Artist Bio

Kiara Santiago in an artist from Boynton Beach, Florida. She works as an elementary school teacher and has obtained a BFA in painting from Florida Atlantic University. She also studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received the Friedland grant during her time at FAU. Santiago primarily works with gouache and soft pastels, but occasionally dabbles in other mediums as well. Through the process of automatic drawing, she creates decorative, autobiographical images that play with rhythm, organic forms, and simple illustrations. Santiago inviting viewers to form their own conceptual interpretations while exploring chaotic color expressions within a harmonious visual context.
